Fourth day at the worksite........

We started again early this morning, get up at six, clean up, have breakfast about fifteen minutes later. Then we are off again on our daily commute.

We took Stanley as well today, I hope he doesn't get hurt. He doesn't listen real well. Here you see him helping with the rebar.
The house is coming nicely as you can see in the pictures. It was hot today, it felt like it was well over thirty degrees. It was sunny all morning as usual and then we had showers in the afternoon, as usual. When that happens, the sky just opens so quick, you just can't get to the shelter quick enough. So today we placed some plywood forms over two corners, and quickly hid under our makeshift shelters.
Willem's shelter was a little small , but he found a good place between Allan and Stephen under their much bigger one.
The rain lasted for about ten minutes. The soil has a heavy clay content. So our boots got very heavy, very quickly.

Beside us on the right you can see our team making twist ties, you know the same ones I half five thousand of in my warehouse. And in the back, you can see Steve and Pete working on making bond beams. They are used to strengthen the cement girder we build around the top outside of the house. We poured three quarters of it today. And we will do the rest tomorrow, the Lord willing and weather permitting. As we noticed, a lot of things don't happen according to plan. And plans can be changed any time. We are starting to get it. At the end of the day , this is what the project looks like. As you can see, it is starting to take shape. And when we came back to the compound, we had a big surprise. Pizza all around, with pop as well. There was pizza with pineapple, mushroom, corn, pepperoni and sausage. Not what you would get at home as far as flavors go, but after a day like we had , it just topped it off. And then when I phoned home I heard that P.E.I. had snow and cold weather, while we were getting sunburned, all on the same day.
Thank you all for you comments, by the way , that is Phillip working hard in the bottom picture with the white shorts . Have fun in the snow ya'all. And let those sleighbells ring Jim.
From the very warm D.R. we wish you all the best. The team

Greetings from Renfrew!
My mom has filled me in on your blog and I'm glad she did. I love reading your undates and seeing the pics. It seems like you guys are having a great time and really making a difference. Wow, the house is really coming along!

Make the most of every minute you are there because it will go by so fast and you will be back in the snow with the rest of us before you know it.

I don't get Flat Stanley. Who is he?

You are in my prayers,

I'm glad to see that things are going well. It's storming today and the weather seems much warmer there. It's hard to believe that the weather can change so quick and be so different in such a short time. Keep up the good work and try to stay out of the hot sun.

This is a message for all the Flat Stanley illiterate people who are wondering who he is. He is a kind little boy from a book series who was flattened one night when his bulletin board fell on him while he was asleep. He was fine except that he was flat - which enabled him to have all kinds of adventures that no "round" person could have. This Flat Stanley was created by the delightful students of Grade 2 at Vernon River School. Can you imagine getting to the D.R. without having to pay for a ticket? - he didn't even need to use airmiles! Don't you wish you were flat? You can Google Flat Stanley for lots of info.

Thanks for asking, Melanie, Joanne McIsaac

Greetings from Edmonton!
Sounds (and looks) like you guys are having a smashin' great time. The Lord uses you mightily when you let Him use your gifts for His service!

Willem and Ange, Mom and Dad are having a really good time with Peter and Ella. They said they are great and easy kids (always makes me feel better to hear that:)).

I was kind of hoping to see some familiar faces on the back of that truck with bags. That would have been quite the ride, eh!

Love and prayers,
Janneke :)

PS Thanks for asking about Flat Stanley, Melanie! I was clueless. Very cool idea, though!

Wow, your worksite looks really great, you are going to be finished with that in no time! Here in New Jersey, there is no snow, and it hasnt been very cold yet, we are still in the upper fortys, to mid fiftys..And we are taking full advantage of the no snow here! It will be good showing you around everywhere weather, Dad and Pete, when you come and visit us! We are both praying that the Lord is keeping you all safe, and that you are having a wonderful time! Lots of Love, Jordan and Dianna Spangler

We love flat Stanley too. It's great following your daily progress on this project. We are surely getting some messy weather here on PEI. School is cancelled across the island today. We have a minus thirty windchill today so the plus thirty sounds not so bad right now. Take care.
